T-BUDS: Behringer’s $39 true wireless, noise cancelling earphones
Behringer has announced the T-BUDS wireless earphones. With a stunning price tag of just $39, the T-BUDS offer true wireless Bluetooth connectivity and active noise cancellation. Has Behringer designed AirPods Pro for the masses?
Behringer T-BUDS true wireless earphones
It’s not the first time Behringer is surprising us with the price of a new product, but this time it’s especially mind-blowing. You could buy six pairs of T-BUDS for the price of Apple’s AirPods Pro, and you’d still have a bit of cash to spare. It looks like Behringer has set its eyes firmly on conquering the consumer market.
The list of specs reveals that the T-BUDS tick most of the same boxes as today’s state-of-the-art wireless earbuds from brands like Apple, Samsung or Bose. They offer true wireless connectivity over Bluetooth 5.0, IPX4 splash protection for sports and outdoor activities and up to four hours of battery life, with an extra three charges available from the charging case. They also have a built-in microphone and touch control for your phone, voice commands, volume and music, and come with three sizes of silicone tips for a comfortable fit. All of those are standard features that we’ve come to expect from any pair of true wireless earbuds.
Active noise cancellation
But what’s especially impressive is that Behringer has managed to integrate active noise cancellation with a transparent mode, while maintaining a price tag of under $40. This makes the T-BUDS cheaper than even the least expensive AirPods Pro knock-offs from obscure brands that you can find on Amazon or eBay. That the charging case isn’t wireless, but instead relies on a USB connection, is a minor disappointment, but it likely won’t be a dealbreaker if the T-BUDS deliver on their core promises.
One question remains, of course: just how good do they sound? How good can they sound at this price? We’ll have to wait for them to arrive to answer this question. But what we can already say is that Behringer’s latest Bluetooth earbuds are bound to shake things up in the world of consumer wireless.
Price and availability
While Behringer hasn’t said when the T-BUDS will become available, their USD 39 price tag is a fraction of what most other name-brand earbuds with comparable features cost.
