Misha Mansoor introduces his new Jackson MJ Series Signature So-Cal 2PT
Periphery and Haunted Shores guitarist gets new signature Jackson
Misha Mansoor has a new MJ Series Signature Misha Mansoor So-Cal 2PT. This Daphne Blue Strat-style Jackson So-Cal shredder comes loaded with the Periphery and Haunted Shores guitarist’s signature Bare Knuckle Ragnarok bridge humbucker for crushing tones.
MJ Series Signature Misha Mansoor So-Cal 2PT
This new Jackson signature model for Misha Mansoor is based on the So-Cal models you normally see from Charvel, and has that classic Fender Strat headstock, albeit with a Jackson logo emblazed on it instead of the big F.
Daphne Blue
The guitar has a basswood body, known for its light weight and neutral tone, in a Daphne Blue finish and features a slightly sculpted heel for better upper fret access. You also get a sweet looking caramelised maple bolt-on neck, with graphite reinforcement, white fret markers and Luminlay glow-in-the-dark side dots. Elsewhere there are 22 jumbo stainless steel frets and a Graph Tech TUSQ XL nut, along with rolled fingerboard edges. I can only imagine this neck is a seriously smooth ride. The Fender-style headstock is finished in the same Daphne Blue as the body. It might divide opinion, but I like it.
Gotoh Hardware
All hardware is made by Gotoh and includes a set of locking tuners and a Custom 510 bridge. It’s all well-proven stuff and is, in my experience, great hardware that performs well in live gig situations.
BK Ragnarok!
The inclusion of the signature Misha Mansoor Bare Knuckle Ragnarok bridge humbucker is nice to see. It is an aggressive pickup, but cleans up well when required. This is paired with a BK Trilogy neck and middle single-coil, which are a great match for the humbucker. All the pickups come in a parchment colour and are mounted on a white pickguard. The guitar is wired via a single volume and tone control, and a 5-way blade switch.
How much?
I own a Chavel So-Cal with a locking Floyd trem and love it. I also love these Gotoh 51o trem systems, so I can see this being a great HSS modern guitar. And the Bare Knuckle pickup is just the icing on the cake.
The guitar looks like a really nice take on the classic So-Cal formula and I’m impressed by the specifications. My only reservation is the price, which is a tad high in my opinion. Overall though, I think Misha has specced a nice Super-Strat style signature model and, by unleashing his inner guitar geek, has at the very least made something interesting.
RRP – EUR 2299
