Heimdall: 8-step modulation sequencer from Bragi Modular
Heimdall is designed to throw steps of voltage through your rack for the modulation of oscillators, filters, VCAs or anything else with a CV input.
Heimdall
Most sequencers are designed for playing notes and can also do a bit of modulation as a sort of side-gig. Heimdall isn’t worried about notes, instead, it wants to give itself over to modulation full-time. Although there’s nothing to stop you from patching it through a quantizer and into the pitch input on a VCO.
Heimdall gives you 8 steps to play with and you can wind that down to 3 steps with a knob if you wish. There’s also a reset input if you want to restart the sequence from an external trigger. Each step can range from zero to +-5V but there’s also an attenuator that can narrow the voltage to something more subtle.
Hidden depths
An unexpected bonus is that if you plug an audio rate oscillator into the trigger input, the output becomes a sub-oscillator. You can affect the tone of the sub by manipulating the sliders.
Heimdall is a compact and simple module with cool LEDs and is nicely styled with Bragi Modular’s Viking theme. I always enjoy the modular connection to epic gods:
“Heimdall is the god who keeps watch for invaders and the onset of Ragnarök from his dwelling Himinbjörg, where the burning rainbow bridge Bifröst meets the sky. He is attested as possessing foreknowledge and keen senses, particularly eyesight and hearing”
Heimdall is available now for €130.
