Gibson Exclusives Collection: New Ebony acoustics
Three limited-edition, blacked-out acoustics with echoes of the Man in Black

Gibson Exclusives Collection Ebony
Gibson’s new Exclusives Collection Ebony are blacked-out, limited-edition versions Hummingbird, J-45, and SJ-200 with ebony. Interestingly, they follow on from recent ebony SG Standard ’61, a ’70s Flying V, and a Les Paul Standard ’60s.
Hummingbird Ebony
First up is the Hummingbird Ebony, a dreadnought-sized acoustic with a mahogany body and a Sitka spruce top. It’s finished in an ebony gloss nitrocellulose. This model comes factory fitted with an LR Baggs VTC pickup, a Tusq nut, and a set of Grover Rotomatic tuners with kidney buttons.

J-45 Ebony
Next up is the J-45 Ebony. This time you get a standard-size acoustic made using mahogany for the back and sides, with a Sitka spruce top and an Indian rosewood fingerboard. It also happens to be Gibson’s most popular acoustic model and its biggest seller. Again, as with the Hummingbird model above, you get an LR Baggs VTC pickup, a Tusq nut, and a set of Grover Rotomatic tuners with kidney buttons.

SJ-200 Ebony
Last, but certainly not least, is the SJ-200 Ebony. This time the construction uses Flame Maple, with a two-piece maple neck and Indian rosewood fingerboard. You also get a Tusq nut, saddle and bridge, plus ad LR Baggs Anthem under-saddle pickup.
This was the one Johnny Cash played in the ’50s, although you more often saw him playing Martins. Gibson actually made two J-200s for Johnny Cash with his name on the fingerboard, but this limited edition model has the normal fret inlays instead.
