Bogner’s new Ecstasy Mini follows in the same footsteps as the recent Friedman BE Mini head format. It is a 30-watt solid-state high-gain amp in an affordable and portable package.
Bogner Ecstasy Mini
The new Bogner Ecstasy Minipacks all those classic boutique high-gain tones into a mini amp head. The amp is based around a solid-state circuit with 30 watts of power on offer, and claims to be all you need to gig with. You get those Ecstasy Red Channel tones and for a fraction of the cost of a regular full-sized valve driven amp head.

Red Channel Tones
This single-channel amp has Gain, Volume, a three-band EQ, and Presence controls, and four tone-shaping toggle switches. The switches are labeled Variac (adds extra headroom), Gain (engages high-gain tones), Mid Freq ( three mid frequencies), plus Pre EQ (tailors the amp’s high-end content). You also have two speaker outs on the rear, rated at 8-16 Ohm, along with an effect send and return loop.

Small Amp Head with Big Tone
Weighing in at a mere 1.8kg, the Bogner Mini Ecstasy measures 9.5” (w) x 6.25” (d) x 5.25” (h), which means you could easily lug one around for gigs. I reckon 30-watts of power is more than enough for most gigs, but you will want to be using that high-gain Red Channel Bogner tone throughout, so I doubt it will be great for cleans.
You can hear it in action in the demo videos below. I think it sounds pretty decent, plus the price is very reasonable as well. It’s a good alternative to the Bognor Red pedal, if you also need an amp, so could be a very handy thing to have around. Or perhaps you could keep one as a backup for your main rig.

These mini-amps look cool, but I think it would make much more sense to just put a class-D power amp in the pedals instead of turning their pedals into amp heads. Orange, that more or less started the trend with mini-heads, made the right decision to turn their Micro Terror head into the Terror Stamp, Victory has made some excellent tube amp-in-a-pedal, and so on. Just my opinion on this.
Yeah, I think you are right in many ways. I suspect that making it look like an amp head is an easy way to market it, as many players are used to that format. Though, like yourself, I would happily use it in a pedal format, as would be easier to use/stop falling off my speaker cab/ and fit on a neat pedalboard setup, etc
I hope boutique amps makes a lower gain mini head (Morgan AC style) or (Tone King w/ Reverb). These look cool, but wanting more of an off clean / edge of breakup pedal platform. Built in Reverb would set these apart from Vox’s MV series and make the $299 vs $199 price point worth it.
