But then new software synths always appear that way particularly when it’s a company’s first product. In a crowded market, a new virtual instrument has to offer something different, something more than a flashy video and the sounds of electronic dance music.
TheSynthFactory are presenting HoriZEN as a platform for sound design, production and synthesis. They are inviting us to join them on a journey. They talk about a Matrix approach to combining different elements together, how everything is customisable. There’s a 4-voice sample engine that runs alongside a 3-voice dual oscillator synth engine, before going through dual-mode filters and hitting a huge effects engine. Sounds promising.
On the modulation side, you have an XY pad to automate and record movements. You can draw your own LFO or choose from a number of custom shapes. There’s something about a unique approach to sound layering using their KeyScale function. Of course, there will be presets aplenty.
The release is still 3 weeks away at the time of writing and TheSynthFactory are encouraging people to sign up to the mailing list for a 30% discount off an unknown price. Looking forward to seeing what it can do.
