Fender has today launched some new premium acoustic guitar models, with two 000-style and two dreadnought style acoustics. The new PM-3 and PM-1 models come in four variations based upon the main body woods used for the guitars.

PM-1 Limited Adirondack Dreadnought, Mahogany and Rosewood models

The Fender Limited Adirondack PM-1 is available with either a solid Indian Rosewood or mahogany back and sides, though each model shares the solid AA Adirondack spruce top and X-bracing. The guitars both have Fishman- and Fender-designed PM preamp onboard and so can be used live and or in the recording studio. You will probably, however, want to mic them as I would imagine those solid spruce tops will sound pretty good. But the option to use an on-board preamp is always handy for gigs.

The guitars come with a ‘C’ shaped neck and so should be pretty comfortable to play. The necks are made of mahogany with either a rosewood on the mahogany bodied version or ebony fretboard on the Indian rosewood model. Both guitars are finished in lacquer.

The price includes a Fender deluxe hardshell case and a humidifier in the price to keep your guitar nice and safe.

PM-3 Limited Adirondack Triple-0, Rosewood and Mahogany

The PM-3 is essentially a 000 version of the PM-1 with a smaller, more traditional guitar body, yet with the same high-end specifications in terms of solid mahogany or Indian rosewood backs and sides, plus the solid AA Adirondack spruce top and X-bracing. These are available either with rosewood or ebony fretboards, again depending on which model you buy; the Indian rosewood version having the ebony board.

Both guitars also feature the Fishman/Fender preamps and come in a Fender deluxe hardshell case with a humidifier.

Personally, I’ve always preferred 000 style guitars, as I find them to be less boomy and sweeter sounding, but it’s a personal preference and not a science with acoustics, so best you go try them out for yourself.
