Boom! sE Electronics DM2 TNT inline mic preamp with up to 30 dB of gain
sE Electronics has introduced the DM2 TNT inline microphone preamp for passive ribbon and dynamic microphones. The lighter-sized accessory boosts your signal by up to 30 dB. If your audio interface’s or mixer’s preamplifiers are too noisy or cannot provide enough gain, this could be a convenient, pocket-sized solution.

Some dynamic mics and ribbon mics are notorious for their low output levels. If you find yourself constantly pushing the preamp of your audio interface or mixer to the max while recording, podcasting, streaming, or performing live, an inline preamp can be an inexpensive and practical solution.
sE Electronics’ new DM2 TNT is based on the DM1, but offers even more gain and less noise, according to the manufacturer. You can choose from 15 dB or 30 dB of gain. The ultra high impedance input offers eight switchable load impedance settings ranging from 50 Ohms to 10 Megaohms, which allows you to adapt the preamp to a wide variety of microphones (with the exception of condenser mics and active ribbon mics).
se Electronic says that the compact inline preamp offers ample headroom and a clean signal with reduced self noise. In addition to improving the quality of the signal, this helps to reduce RF interference for long cable runs.
The inline preamp uses Class-A FET transistors for studio-quality recordings. The device runs on phantom power supplied via the gold-plated XLR connector. Keep in mind, however, that the preamp is for passive microphones only. It won’t work with active ribbon mics or condenser mics, which require phantom power to operate.

The sE Electronics DM2 TNT is now available at Thomann* for €139.
