The Nothing Ear (1) wireless ANC earbuds, now available in black
Released earlier this year, the Nothing Ear (1) wireless ANC earbuds received mixed reviews. While most loved and admired the attention to detail in the design, some found them a little incongruous despite their obvious futurist appeal. Nevertheless, they did sell over 100,000 units in the first 2 months, according to Reuters. For the skeptics who couldn’t see themselves with a pair of Ear (1)’s, they now come in black and will be available for order from December 13th. You’ll even be able to purchase them with Bitcoin, Ethereum, USD Coin, or Dogecoin.
Ear (1)
Created in collaboration with Swedish music technology innovators Teenage Engineering, the Ear (1)’s were Nothing’s first market offering, moving definitively into their own space as a brand. Nothing is the latest brainchild of tech entrepreneur, Carl Pei, the well-known OnePlus co-founder. Nothing has now declared its carbon-neutral status, promising sustainable tech offerings in the future. They have also partnered with Qualcomm, the US chip manufacturer, and raised over $50 million through investments, so you’d be wary of betting against the London-based startup – especially after the success of the Ear (1).
For those in London, UK, the first 100 units of the black Nothing earbuds go on sale from December 4th at the Nothing kiosk in Seven Dials, Covent Garden. The rest of us can preorder through their website and they are sure to be available at most reliable tech outlets worldwide from early 2022. Nothing certainly looks to be one of the most exciting new tech brands of 2021 and it will be interesting to see what they come up with in the future. Their bold design philosophy to stand out from the homogeny in the tech marketplace is a welcome one so watch this space.
