Save up to 16 Impulse Responses
The Taurus Custom Shop Stomp-Head 7.Apogee has an all-analogue design with three channels, an onboard boost, and an adjustable power stage. And now, it also has an IR loader. So you can sculpt your tones even further!
Taurus Stomp Head 7.Apogee
Polish manufacturer Taurus has added the new Custom Edition Stomp Head 7.Apogee to its ever expanding line of amps-in-a-pedal. This latest version employs the company’s patented MTD (Master Tube Design) technology and now has an onboard IR loader that can save up to 16 Impulse Responses.
Tube Tone
You get two channels, with Clean and Crunch tones on Channel 1, and Overdrive on Channel 2. The pedal has five footswitches, three for selecting between the Clean, Crunch and Overdrive channel settings, and two for the onboard Reverb and Boost functions. There is also a Servo knob, which Taurus describes as an “analogue enhancer”, and a switch for adding the effect in and out.
The amp is based around a 12AX7 tube, and you have speaker outputs with impedance auto detection rated at 4, 8 and 16 ohm.
Adjustable Power
The compact pedal format unit has an adjustable power stage. You have settings for 90W, 40W, 20W and 12W, which makes it very versatile and perfect for lots of situations, from live to recording. The power stage has a maximum range of 200W, which should be great for when you need more headroom and playing dynamics, without distorting the power amp.
You also have a speaker simulation equipped line output. This allows you to send a DI signal either with or without an amp simulation. Or, if you like, with a combination of the two. On paper, it looks like a neat solution for players that need to travel light but still want a quality amp tone, with flexible operation and ease of use.
Taurus already has a great reputation for this style of ‘amp in a pedal’. So the addition of an IR loader for this Custom Edition is a very welcome update.
