Bastl Instruments is teasing Softpop 2 for the new year
The Bastl Instruments Softpop is a weirdly organic light and sound synthesizer with lots of playable faders. Softpop 2 is on its way and looks groovier than ever.
Softpop 2
It’s a nutty little jazz synth for bass lines, chirps and noises that looks like it’s had a radical makeover for version 2. Gone are the patch wires and in comes a huge bank of properly sized patch points, a bunch of crossfaders and a massively expanded Gate sequencer section.

Once again the fader interface rules supreme and it still has the massive light on the front and is hopefully as biologically psychedelic as before. The original had two triangle core VCOs, a state-variable filter, looping patterns, a crackly built-in speaker, a track & hold circuit, a shed load of patch points, manic modulation and an RGB LED for blowing your mind – who knows what version 2 might hold?
In any case, it looks like a fun box and we’ve only got to wait until the 5th January 2022 to find out. I’m excited!
