Leaked: The new Apple iMac Pro is on its way in 2022
Although we’ve recently seen Apple launch the M1 Max configuration, sources like @dylandkt, renowned for Apple rumors and leaks say the forthcoming iMac could ship with an even more powerful CPU. On Twitter, he claimed that “A 12 Core CPU configuration was tied to a snippet of code referencing the iMac,” which as we later found out, referred to the new Apple iMac Pro.”
When can we expect the new Apple iMac Pro?
Also, DisplaySupplyChain.com’s Ross Young, revealed that the new iMac Pro may be launched in Spring this year, which sounds ambitious, but who could doubt Apple right now? Young reports that the iMac might not carry the “Pro” name, saying that, “Apple’s Launch of the 27in iMac Pro with Mini-LEDs, 120Hz Variable Refresh, and Oxide Backplanes: Expected in the spring as Apple brings its ProMotion technology to the iMac.”
Apple’s silicon processor has been making waves in the mobile market towards the end of last year, with the M1 Max MacBook Pro getting rave reviews praising the design and performance in almost every department. With this in mind, we can expect the latest iMac to blow us away in the same manner, and the talk of an iMac focussed on pro users is extremely encouraging – whether it bares the pro moniker or not.
With Apple shifting steadily away from Intel support, an increasing number of Mac-based studios will be looking to upgrade their systems in the near future. Most of the major DAWs and plugin manufacturers are now producing software optimized for this new Apple silicon architecture, so we can only imagine the possibilities and potential that a new iMac Pro would bring. It’s been a while since Apple released a desktop aimed at pro users, but in 2022 we might even see 3 if rumors are true: an iMac, a top-spec Mac mini, and an updated Mac Pro tower. We can only wait in decidedly impatient anticipation.
