MODO Drum 1.5: 3 new kits for the physical modeling drums plug-in
IK Multimedia released MODO Drum 1.5, a sizable update bringing three new kits to the physical modeling drum plugin. They are called Silver, Brit Custom, and Metal. Otherwise, no major new features seem to have been added. So it’s a straight-up content update we’re dealing with, and we’ll gladly take it!

At its core, MODO Drum 1.5 remains the same. Instead of a sample player, MODO is a synthesizer which uses physical modeling to generate acoustic drum sounds. This approach produces realistic sounds without hoarding gigabytes of storage.
Furthermore, the synthesis engine allows detailed parameter adjustments. You can define dimensions, material, surface, and resonance. The playing style can be modified, too, alongside the room in which the virtual kit is located. You can also roll your own kits from the individual instruments in the pre-assembled kits. The resulting drum sounds can be shaped with various effects. There’s also the Grooves Manager to let you choose between 1400 grooves in different styles.
After updating, the number of available kits has been increased to a total of 13. The three new additions go by the names of Silver, Brit Custom and Metal. Silver is meant to be an all-rounder, Brit Custom is suitable for pop and rock, and Metal caters to aggressive styles.

IK Multimedia MODO Drum 1.5 is available in VST 2, VST3, AU and AAX 64-bit plug-in formats for macOS 10.9+ and Windows 7+.
The plug-in is sold in three versions. CS is the free version featuring the Studio Kit. SE contains 5 kits (Studio, Jazzy, Silver, Brit Custom, and Metal) at the price of EUR 178.49. Both support paid expansions (EUR 59.49 for each). The full version contains all 13 kits and costs EUR 356.99.

They just held a sale called Modo Month where they sold the old version to unwitting customers and then they go and release a new version with an upgrade cost only marginally less than Thomann’s sale price for new customers! Shockingly bad, pretty much a con job. I’ll never buy anything from them again.
I’m not impressed with them either. Every single upgrade, even just a point upgrade like this, they expect you to shell out more money to get the extra content. I had just bought Total Studio Max. Turns out a license is just a snapshot in time when it comes to IK.
Yes, Thomann has a sale but its MODO Drum 1.0 and thus you have to pay again for the upgrade. So not that great deal!
I’m very disappointed that you did not do your homework when recommending the offer from your partner, Thomann. The item is 1.0 and not 1.5, and there for will not unlock all 13 kits and will require further payments for each additional drum.
I feel very stung by this.
