Auto-Tune SoundSoap: Antares brings back easy audio repair
Antares released a new version of Auto-Tune SoundSoap, an audio restoration tool which began in 2002. Its aim is making it easier to restore and enhance problematic recordings.
Antares Auto-Tune SoundSoap
There are many reasons why recordings don’t always sound like you want them to. Errors creep in but you need results. A tool like Auto-Tune SoundSoap can help with that. Audio restoration software is typically complicated and heavily reliant on spectral editing, which is a bit of a discipline in itself. Auto-Tune SoundSoap takes a different approach, streamlining the workflow with a choice few sliders and buttons. Its simplicity is not to be under-estimated as there’s powerful technology under the hood.
The available audio cleanup and restoration tools include De-rumble, which removes excess low frequencies; De-click and de-clip to remove clicks, pops, and clipping distortion; two De-noisers – one for speech and vocals, one spectral; a De-esser, which is all new. Lastly, the Enhancer polishes things up as a finishing touch.
SoundSoap is an audio repair classic and its re-incarnation will surely appeal to the users it goes after. However, its availability is limited to the Auto-Tune Unlimited subscription service. Unless you need Auto-Tune or some other Antares products, USD 25 per month is too much to pay just for a lightweight audio clean-up tool.
Price and availability
SoundSoap is an Auto-Tune Unlimited subscription exclusive. The service is priced USD 25 per month or USD 175 per year. You can also purchase a subscription from our affiliate partner Thomann and help support Gearnews.
Like all modern Antares plug-ins, Auto-Tune SoundSoap works in 64-bit VST3, AU, and AAX formats under macOS 10.14+ and Windows 10+. For authorization and installation you need the free software Antares Central and an account on the website. You can test the whole package 14 days in advance with the demo version available for download. Product manuals are available in the support section of the website. A number of presets are included in the package.

Pity it’s subscription only. I’ve used SoundSoap since the beginning, long before Antares bought it, and it’s a great little tool for quick and easy audiio clean up. I’ve also used other Antares tools for years, but I will not be forced into the subscription model.
