Zoom has announced the ZPC-1 small diaphragm condenser microphone. Sold in matched pairs, the ZPC-1 is designed for studio recording, live applications and field recording / content creation. If you need an inexpensive stereo setup for a wide range of recording applications, the Zoom ZPC-1 could be an interesting new option.

To showcase the microphone’s versatility, Zoom has photographed the new ZPC-1 condenser microphone in a variety of settings. It lends itself not only to traditional studio applications for this type of mic, such as drum overheads, acoustic guitar, or piano. The ZPC-1 is also designed to accompany Zoom’s range of portable recorders like the new F3 or F8n Pro for field recording, location sound, and all kinds of mobile content creation.

Zoom matches each pair of ZPC-1’s at two frequencies (100 Hz and 1 kHz). According to the manufacturer, this helps to ensure accurate stereo recordings and a consistent sound in a variety of stereo configurations such as X/Y or A/B. The microphone offers a cardioid polar pattern and a frequency range of 40 Hz to 20 kHz. Zoom also states a maximum sound pressure level of 134 dB SPL and a signal to noise ratio of 82 dB. The microphones require 48 V phantom power to operate.
Each pair of ZPC-1 pencil condenser microphones comes with two foam windscreens, two mic clips, two 5/8”-3/8” thread adapters and two carrying pouches.

Price and availability
The Zoom ZPC-1 matched pair small diaphragm condenser microphones will be available in the third quarter of 2022. The manufacturer states a retail price of GBP 183 (including 20% VAT) or EUR 213.01 (including 19% VAT).
