Guitar Gear Gems: Honey-Comp, PitchSlap and leather stompboxes
This week’s Guitar Gear Gems features a new Danish boutique compressor, a handy tuning app which can intonate your guitar for your smartphone, plus some limited edition leather bound stompboxes from Walrus Audio.
Studio Style Compression
First up, on this weeks Guitar Gear Gems is the new Carl Martin Honey-Comp. This updated design replaces their previous Comp/Limiter pedal and is being billed as a studio grade compressor. It comes in a nice neat, compact pedal format. Which could be perfect for cramped pedal boards.
Parallel Compression
This new version adds a Dry control, along with the existing Comp and Level knobs. The Danish built pedal now offers parallel processing via that Dry volume knob. Perfect for retaining the dynamics of your playing, whilst adding compression as required.
RRP – EUR 179

Intonation Woes no more
This new PitchSlap iOS app was designed to offer musicians a new way to tune their guitars, basses and stringed instruments.
Analyse your fretboard
What makes it stand out from the pack is the ability to use it to analyse your guitar’s intonation. To do this all you need to do is the following. Record a sequence notes on the fretboard and it will then create a graphical representation of your guitar’s intonation.
Beta
The app allows you to tweak your intonation virtually, so you can try out adjustments. There is also a setting to adjust your intonation whilst using a capo. PitchSlap also has Simple Tuner, Classic Meter and Ring Tuner displays on offer. Allowing users to choose which output reading suits them best. Currently the app is in Beta which is already full.
However, you can try PitchSlap out for free on your iOS device for a limited time. Just follow the link below.

Leather Bound Stompboxes?
Finally, Walrus Audio has announced their Craftsman Series of leather bound effect pedals. Each pedal is wrapped in high-grade leather that has been hand-cut and hand-stitched. They are also have laser engraved artwork and control knob markings.
Limited Edition
This set six limited editions pedals includes the Ages Five-State Overdrive, ARP-87 Multi-Function Delay, Deep Six Compressor, Fathom Multi-Function Reverb, Julia Analog Chorus/Vibrato, and Monument Harmonic Tap Tremolo.
Craftsman Series
This Craftsman Series was created in conjunction with Simpleton Goods who specialise in working with leather. If you fancy a leather bound dirt box in your rig, then now is your chance to buy one. I don’t know if they would get a bit smelly after a few hard nights gigging though. So maybe save them for the classier gigs?
RRP – USD 299 each

Odd choice of pedals, must of had some old versions laying around, but who would pay this premium for them?
Look great but give me new pedals like slotva, & juliana, & mako series.
I agree, it was an odd thing to do all round really.
