Epiphone has released its version of the Brendon Small ‘Snow Falcon’ which is based upon the Gibson version released in 2013. This new version looks very similar to the more expensive US-built model, but should hopefully be a little cheaper.
Dethlok!
Brandon Small is the creator of Metalocalypse and the comic metal band Dethklok. His new Snow Falcon is based upon the guitar built by Gibson in 2013 I mentioned earlier. While that was a very limited edition, you now have another chance to get your hands on one.

I would imagine that it will also appeal to anyone looking for a nice ‘snow white’ Flying V. Epiphone has made some really great guitars in 2016 (yes, I even bought an Epiphone Brent Hinds Flying V myself this year). This might be a great guitar, if you like white Vs!
Hardware
You may have noticed it is blindingly white and void of any colours at all, apart from chrome. It reminds me a little of the Buckethead Les Paul models from a few years back. On these guitars, even the fretboard is white. Epiphone achieved this effect by using phenolic instead of the more typically used rosewood or ebony.

The guitar is built from mahogany, so apart from its starkly white appearance, it is a traditional Flying V. It has the regular 24.75″ scale length and 22 medium jumbo frets. I like that Epiphone has used their LockTone bridge, which combined with the Grover tuners at the other end, means that the strings should keep their tuning very well. I have this system on my Brent Hinds Epiphone Flying V, and have found it rock solid for tuning.

Electronics
The Snow Falcon has the Gibson Burstbucker-1 at the neck position. The bridge position pickup is the slightly hotter Gibson Burstbucker-2. The wiring is a simple three-way toggle switch, and a Volume and Tone control. The Tone control also doubles up as a kill switch and has an Epiphone Killpot for that function.

Again, I have the exact same control system on my Brent Hinds Flying V and it works really nicely. The Killpot does exactly what they say it will, with no issues. It’s a really neat design, being well implemented and feeling very sturdy. I have a few guitars with kill switches and I think the Epiphone Killpot is the best of the lot.
