Jackson X Series updated ahead of NAMM 2022 show
New revamped and re-styled finishes for 2022
Jackson updates X Series ahead of next week’s NAMM show. The updates include revamped Soloist, Dinky, Warrior, Kelly and Rhoads models. Plus a couple of new look bass guitars have been added to the lineup for 2022. Some nice retro ’80s throwback colours are on offer for 2022. Maybe it is time to break out the lycra leopardskin catsuits?
X Series Updates
The Jackson X Series has new colours for 2022, with neon and camo finishes amongst the revamped Soloist, Dinky, Warrior, Kelly and Rhoads. Along with new look Concert and Spectra bass models, there are plenty of great guitars from Jackson this year.
SLX DX
Loaded with a pair of Duncan Designed HB-103N and HB-103B humbuckers the X Series SLX DX comes in Granite Crystal or Red Crystal finishes over a poplar body. You get a through-body maple neck with graphite reinforcement and scarf joint, plus a 12”-16” compound radius bound laurel fingerboard fitted with 24 jumbo frets and classic Jackson Pearloid sharkfin inlays.
This model is factory fitted with a Floyd Rose Special double-locking tremolo bridge. These two new colours expand the range somewhat, and it is currently the cheapest model in this revamped release. I would say it offers a pretty solid instrument, albeit with a few cost-cutting hardware decisions.
MSRP – USD 699
SL3X DX Crackle
Next up is the X Series SL3X DX Crackle and this time you get a set of Jackson designed high-output humbucking bridge and high-output mini rail humbucking middle and neck pickups. This model has a basswood body with a through-body maple neck with graphite reinforcement and a scarf joint.
You can get this model in either Yellow or FrostByte crackle finishes, both are very ’80s styles and perfect for classic radio rock.
MSRP – USD 849
SLX DX Camo
Loaded with a set of high output Jackson humbuckers, the SLX DX Camo has a Nyatoh body, along with a through-body maple neck and laurel fingerboard.
MSRP – USD 899
SLA6 DX Archtop Baritone
This SLA6 DX Archtop Baritone looks very sleek and comes in Satin Black, loaded with a pair of active EMG 81 and 85 pickups. This model has a Nyatoh body, paired with a 26.5″ scale length through-body maple neck and has a 12″-16″ compound-radius laurel fretboard.
It comes fitted with a Jackson HT6 string-through-body hardtail bridge.
MSRP – USD 899
DK3XR HSS
This pair of Dinkys are both pretty bold colours, with the DK3XR HSS available in either Caution Yellow or Neon Pink for 2022. These two come with a Nyatoh body with a sculpted shredder’s cut heel making upper fret access a breeze. With a bolt-on maple neck that comes with graphite reinforcement, along with a scarf joint and a sweet satin back finish.
Pickups are Jackson high-output models in an HSS configuration, paired with a Jackson-branded Floyd Rose licensed double-locking tremolo bridge system. These wallet-friendly ’80s themed shred guitars will leave you enough cash in your pocket to buy lipgloss and hairspray.
MSRP – USD 599
WRX24
The WRX24 Warrior is all blacked out and comes in a Satin Black finish over the poplar body. It comes loaded with a set of matching black Jackson designed high-output pickups, plus black pickup rings and all-black hardware. It looks like a barbarian’s favourite axe and I’m pretty sure it could do some damage if swung as a weapon.
Specifications include a Floyd Rose double-locking tremolo, a compound radius laurel fretboard, plus a 25.5” scale length through-body maple neck.
RRP – USD 749
Kelly KEX
Now available in Ferrari Red the classic Kelly KEX will certainly stand out from the crowd. This model has a unique construction that comprises a set of poplar body wings and a through-body maple neck. Again you have a 12″-16″ compound-radius fingerboard with Pearloid sharkfin inlays and loaded with 24 jumbo frets.
A pair of Jackson high-output humbuckers and a Floyd Rose Special double-locking tremolo complete the package.
MSRP – 799
X Series Rhoads RRX24
New for 2022 is this Winter Camo finish for the X Series Rhoads RRX24 and it looks pretty sweet. I like the finish and it reminds me a lot of the ESP camo models. This one has a Nyatoh body, plus a through-body maple neck and 24-fret fitted to a 12″-16″ compound-radius laurel fingerboard.
A set of high-output Jackson humbuckers and a recessed Floyd Rose trem mean you can whip out your favourite high-gain riffs with ease.
MSRP – USD 899
CBXNT DX V Concert Bass
Then to finish off the X Series release Jackson has the CBXNT DX V Concert Bass. Available in either a Gloss Black or Snow White finish over a poplar body.
This is a 5-string Concert Bass model with a 35” scale length, and the new Jackson Bass Bacher V hardtail bridge. It has a speed maple neck contour, and a modern 12”-16” compound radius. It comes with a set of J-Style and P-Style Jackson pickups that are paired with a three-band EQ.
MSRP – USD 799
SBX IV Spectra Bass
Finally, there is the SBX IV Spectra Bass this model is available in Gloss Black and Matte Army Drab. The Nyatoh body is paired with a through-body maple neck and a compound laurel fretboard.
This model has a pair of medium output Jackson pickups along with a push/pull on the volume for active/passive use. Plus a three-band EQ when in active mode. This model comes with the Jackson HiMass bridge.
MSRP – USD 699
