NAMM 2022: Focusrite Vocaster audio interfaces for podcasts
Producing podcasts by yourself gets increasingly easier! Gear like the new Vocaster series of audio interfaces by Focusrite comes ready to go the moment you plug into a computer. Connected microphones can be leveled automatically and a dedicated Mute button is available on the interface itself. There’s more where that came from, read below…
Focusrite Vocaster audio interfaces for podcasting
Focusrite’s new Vocaster One and Two interfaces have plenty of podcast-friendly functionality. For example, an AutoGain function is available to automatically adjust the levels of connected microphones. It’s paired with the Enhance feature for a choice of three voice enhancements. Because everyone needs some of that radio announcer voice.
There is also a dedicated Mute button (two of them on the larger unit). This is an important aid, especially for live streams – you can quickly fade audio out when needed. Moreover, audio clips such as intros and sound effects can be integrated directly from the stereo loopback function. You can also bring in calls from messaging apps that way. Additionally, both interfaces have an additional mini jack (3.5mm) input to connect phones and stereo playback devices.
Connection options and included software
The Vocaster One and Vocaster Two are bus-powered over USB-C and they work with Mac, Windows, and iOS devices. The former has a single XLR microphone input with 48V phantom power. It also has a 6.3mm headphone output and line outputs for monitor connection. The latter has dual XLR inputs and dual headphone outputs accordingly. It also features Bluetooth 5.0 for wireless connections.
The bundled software package includes a 6-month trial of the Hindenburg Pro podcasting software. There’s also a 3-month trial of SquadCast Pro which is used to easily bring guests into podcasts and live streams. There are also 6-month trial of the podcast distribution software Acast Influencer and the Amplify Studio Premium DAW.
