NAMM 2022: Ibanez 2022 Signature Models announced
Ibanez 2022 Signature Models for Steve Vai, Nita Strauss, Joe Satriani and more announced
Ibanez has announced their new Signature models for 2022 and the list includes new colours, new models and some old favourites. With updated models for Nita Strauss who gets two signature guitars this year plus, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, George Benson, Tom Quayle, Jake Bowen, and Kiko Loureiro.
Nita Strauss
Nita Strauss gets two signature models, the JIVAX2 and a left-handed JIVA10L model. The JIVAX2 comes with a quilted maple top on an African mahogany body and has the new Ghost finish. It comes with a set of DiMarzio pickups including the Pandemonium ‘bucker in the neck, a True Velvet in the single coil in the middle and a Pandemonium bridge humbucker
Similar specs on the new JIVA10L just it comes in the Deep Space Blonde finish.
Steve Vai
The new Steve Vai PIA3761C for 2022 comes in a Blue Powder finish. An alder body is paired with a five-piece maple/walnut neck. This model has Vai’s DiMarzio UtoPIA pickups in all three positions.
Joe Satriani
For 2022 Joe Satriani has gone from a Chrome Boy to the new all gold finish JS2GD and it looks pretty insane, all shiny and golden. It has an alder body and a one-piece maple neck. Along with Joe’s DiMarzio pickup choice of a FRED bridge humbucker, paired with his Satch Track single-coil pickups in the middle and neck positions.
The major revamp this year though is the dedicated on/off switches for each pickup. Everything is gold, including all the hardware and the Jescar EVOgold frets!
Jake Bowen
The Jake Bowen JBM999 looks pretty insane too. It has a basswood body paired with a maple/walnut neck. Oh, and 27 frets! Because 24 just isn’t enough right? This model comes loaded with two JBM9999 custom pickups, in both the neck and bridge positions.
I do like that Azure Metallic Matte finish, and the ebony fretboard with a single 12th fret inlay.
Kiko Loureiro
This year the Kiko Loureiro comes in a Transparent Ruby Red finish. It looks very sumptuous over that flamed maple top on an alder body. It has DiMarzio KIKO pickups throughout and so should sound pretty sweet as well.
Tom Quayle
The new Tom Quayle TQMS1 comes in a Celeste Blue finish for 2022. I love that T-style guitar with a Gotoh T1802 2-point trem and it has an AZ Oval CS-Tech one piece roasted maple neck. These are great necks and feel amazing to play. I own an Ibanez AZ and the neck is sublime.
It has an alder body with a maple top, you just have the new Celeste Blue finish on the top, so you can see the alder on the rear and sides. Pickups are a Seymour Duncan Magic Touch-mini neck humbucker and a Alnico II Pro Custom in the bridge position. Looks awesome, and I bet it sounds awesome as well.
George Benson
The latest George Benson GBSP10 signature model comes with a flamed maple top, back and sides, all finished in a sumptuous red finish for 2022. As ever it comes fitted with GB special pickups in both positions. It should be a great warm sounding jazz guitar and it looks great, and you know it will sound even better.
