D’Angelico Guitars Excel Series adds quilted tops
Loaded with Seymour Duncan '59 pickups
These D’Angelico Guitars Excel Series DC XT and SS XT have been given a fancy makeover. These two semi-hollows now with sumptuous quilted tops and Seymour Duncan ’59 pickups.
D’Angelico Guitars Excel Series
Both of these D’Angelico Guitars Excel Series models come with scroll-style headstocks, luxurious laminated Quilt Maple tops, and a pair of Seymour Duncan 59’ humbucking pickups. The DC XT and SS XT models look pretty swanky with those fancy tops, and will no doubt turn some heads.
The pickups are wired via a three-way selector switch and the fairly typical two-volume, two-tone knob control layout. They also offer a wealth of tones, as those ’59s pickups have push/pull coil-splitting via the guitar’s tone knobs. Making them a versatile instrument for working musicians and those just noodling at home.
Specifications
These are both set-neck guitars with a rosewood fretboard that has traditional split-block pearl inlays. The DC XT has a double-cutaway body, whilst the SS XT comes with a single-cutaway. The SS XT comes in a 25” scale length and the DC XT has a 24.75” scale length. Both guitars have dual-action truss rods.
There are also the two colour variants Vintage Natural and Iced Tea Burst for both the SS XT and DC XT models. Each with gold hardware throughout. Both guitars can be heard below in the official D’Angelico Guitars demo videos. For the full specifications on each model head over to the links below for all the details.
I think the price of these is fairly reasonable for the upgraded top, plus pickups and if you like a little bling, then these new Excel Series models may well appeal to you.
MSRP – DC XT USD 1999.99 and SS XT USD 2099.99
