Leapwing Audio Joe Chiccarelli Signature
This is the second plugin in Leapwing Audio’s Signature Series. It has been developed in collaboration with producer and engineer Joe Chiccarelli. After Leapwing Audio went through the process of successfully designing a plug-in with the late Al Schmitt, it took its ambition to Joe Chiccarelli at Sunset Sound.
Compared to Al Schmitt, Joe used significantly more processing to get the sounds he wants. The team at Leapwing researched and analyzed all of his gear, ranging between EQs, pre-amps, compressors, distortion units, reverbs, and several other effects.
The outcome is a multi-effects / channel strip plug-in with 11 distinct profiles: kick, snare, toms, drum overhead, drum room, bass di, bass amp, acoustic guitar, electric guitar, electric piano, and lead vocal. Each profile has a set of parameters to adjust settings like drive, EQ, compression, and effects.
You can think of all this as a distillation of Joe’s typical approach to such tracks with just the right amount of control to get that lush sound quickly.

According to the man himself, the plug-in is designed as a “starting point” for crafting “album-ready sounds”. If you are looking to build up a new sound or finish an already processed one inside the mix, the new Leapwing Audio plugin can be the foundation for that.
Price and availability
Leapwing Audio Joe Chiccarelli Signature is priced at EUR 99, down from EUR 149 until October 4, 2022. The plug-in is available for macOS 10.13+ and Windows 8+ in 64-bit AAX-Native, VST3, and AU formats. A 30-day trial is also available to try.
