Heavyocity Fury is a crazy modulated distortion playground
Heavyocity has released Fury, a new distortion plugin that’ll make your head spin. With a semi-modular layout that lets you build unique distortion effects from a total of 29 drive and distortion modules and apply modulation, Fury is a distortion playground for a wide range of one-of-a-kind effects.
Heavyocity Fury
If you like to experiment with modulated distortion, there’s a new kid on the block that you should check out. Heavyocity Fury has all the ingredients for rhythmic distortion and overdrive effects with plenty of movement: a wide range of modules and algorithms to choose from, lots of parameters to play with, and a comprehensive modulation engine.
The plugin is divided into three sections: Drive, Distortion, and Tone. Drive is for input overdrive and saturation, Distortion is for clipping, and Tone is for post-distortion shaping. For each of these sections, you’ve got a choice of several different modules. All in all, there are 29 modules – eight in Drive, 15 in Distortion, and six in Tone. This gives you a total of over 700 possible combinations.
The most important controls are always within reach on the left side, where you’ll find a large Drive knob and controls for Movement, Tone, and Mix, along with sliders for the input and output levels. The Shape panel provides access to many additional parameters, such as a gate, input EQ, and Character and Cleanup sections.
Plenty of modulation
Open up the Mod panel and you’ll get access to Fury’s modulation engine. It contains an envelope follower, an LFO, and even a sequencer, each of which can be applied to the Drive, Tone, and Feedback parameters, as well as the output level.
With a wide range of different distortion algorithms and the option to modulate, Heavyocity Fury looks like an interesting alternative to plugins such as Output Thermal, Arturia Dist Coldfire, or Minimal Audio Rift. If unique, modulated distortion effects are your thing, be sure to check this one out.
Price and compatibility
Heavyocity Fury is now available from Plugin Boutique* for an introductory price of USD 99 (price may vary slightly depending on your location). Owners of Punish or Punish Lite can crossgrade for USD 79. These offers expire on October 14, 2022; the regular price will be USD 129. A time-limited trial version is available.
The plugin runs on macOS 10.15.7 or higher (compatible with Apple Silicon) and Windows 10 or higher. It’s available in VST3, AU, and AAX formats. A large number of presets is included.
