PRS Robben Ford Limited Edition McCarty revealed
Only 200 Robben Ford Limited Edition models for 2022
The PRS Robben Ford Limited Edition McCarty has now been officially unveiled. The new signature model was teased back in 2021 via Ford’s Instagram account and so we knew it was coming. This highly limited run will see only 200 Robben Ford Limited Edition instruments made in 2022
Robben Ford Limited Edition McCarty
PRS has revealed the Robben Ford Limited Edition McCarty. It takes their McCarty design and tweaks it to the guitarist’s personal preference. This includes a set of his own PRS humbucking pickups and a revised control layout.
“As a guitarist, everything is important. All the details have an impact. The willingness of Paul and everyone at PRS to dig deep and refine based on my feedback as an artist has been priceless.” – Robben Ford
This solid-body guitar features a mahogany body with a maple top. This classic combination is paired with a bound, 25” scale length PRS Pattern-shape mahogany neck. The neck comes with an African Blackwood fretboard fitted with 22 frets and a set of ‘old school’ bird inlays. The nickel hardware includes a PRS Stoptail bridge with Brass Inserts and a set of Vintage-Style PRS tuners.
Robben Ford Dojo Logo
The pair of Robben Ford Treble and Bass pickups. Each pickup comes with a Dojo Logo and these are controlled with volume and tone controls with a three-way toggle pickup switch and one mini toggle isolated coil split switch. The voicing is clear for both pickups, as Robben likes the clarity of single-coil pickups and PRS has attempted to get as close as possible to this type of tone. Plus, you can split them if required, for a faux single-coil tone.
Double Signed
Paul Reed Smith has hand-signed the front of each headstock and Robben Ford has autographed the backplate of each instrument. They look great in the plain black finish and are quite understated. But this simple-looking guitar is pretty expensive at an MSRP of £4999 * in the UK.
