The Kemper Profiler Stage system takes snapshots of real amplifiers called ‘Profiles’ and uses these to give players an amp-like experience. The Kemper family of products is similar to the Line 6 Helix, in that it comes in many formats. The Profiler Stage is one of the newest iterations and places the system in an easy-to-use floor pedal format. Though they do it as a rack * or as a head * if you prefer those formats.

The Boss GT-1000 is their top-of-the-line floor modeller and is packed with great features and is based around 32-bit/96 kHz processing. It also works for both guitar and bass, so it is pretty flexible. Having Bluetooth control for wireless editing of iOS and Android devices is also a really handy benefit for many musicians.

Where are the offerings from Fractal?
There are more cool modellers out there. This list is limited to only 5 and so Fractal didn’t make it in this year.
What he means to say is that Thomann doesn’t sell the Fractal stuff so they won’t include it on the list.
Shameless.
They don’t really have many international dealers and mainly sell directly to the customer normally. So hard to find at most retailers, including Thomann. I do like Fractal Audio Systems gear though.
I’m not a fan of tablet apps as important editing tools. How long will the software be updated for new OS’s? What happens when an update breaks the software? What happens when your aging tablet dies, gets stolen or broken and the software hasn’t been updated for the OS a new tablet has installed? OS rollbacks are generally impossible for many OS’s.
Are we going to have to buy a new modeler just to be able to use a new tablet?
I think screw the immediate usefulness of a tablet, a computer app is by FAR the better choice as it’s a) likely to be used far longer than you turn over a phone, and b) it’s easy to store legacy OS’s and apps on an external SSD after the new OS breaks the app.
The closed nature of app stores often means, if the manufacturer pulls the app in a few years, that’s it… gone for good! Your modeler may be quite sufficient for a decade or more, but tablet apps and OS’s change MUCH faster. Ten years down the line, do you want to be unable to use the modeler less effectively because the editing software no longer works?
