Fender Japan Hybrid II Telecaster, Strat & Traditional Jazzmaster
Three new limited run models from Japan
These Fender Japan Hybrid II Telecaster, Hybrid II Stratocaster HSS and Traditional Jazzmaster are the latest limited edition releases. Each offers some great takes on classic Fender designs. And all are part of a special run of previous top-selling designs for the Japanese market.
Fender Japan Hybrid II Telecaster Thinline
The Fender Japan Hybrid II Telecaster Thinline is a limited run and reminds me of the Britt Daniel signature model launched by Fender back in 2019.
It has the f-hole on the upper bout and a similar swept black pickguard, which works really well with the finish.
This Tele Thinline design comes with a gold sparkle on the alder top with black body binding and has a natural finish on the back of the guitar. The maple neck comes with 22 narrow-tall frets and traditional black dot inlays.
It has a standard Thinline control layout with a three-way switch and master volume and tone controls. Pickups are a pair of Fender Hybrid II custom-voiced single-coil Telecaster models, exclusive to this run.
RRP – YEN 148,500
Fender Japan Hybrid II Stratocaster HSS
This Hybrid II Stratocaster HSS with an alder body. It comes in a Graffiti Yellow and screams cool, plus it has a white racing stripe which elevates it aesthetically even more.
It comes in an HSS pickup configuration with a Modern Modified bridge humbucker in the bridge position. This is paired with two Fender Hybrid II Custom Voiced Single Coil models in the middle and neck positions.
This Strat has a modern C-profile maple neck paired with a 9.5” radius rosewood fretboard fitted with 21 narrow-tall frets, a bone nut and white dot inlays.
MSRP – YEN 143,000
Fender Japan Traditional Jazzmaster
This Fender Japan Traditional Jazzmaster is pretty stunning. It has an understated style and comes in a Sonic Blue finish, with a matching headstock. This is paired with a tortoiseshell pickguard. Which I think works really well with this paint colour.
It has a basswood body which is paired with a U-shape profile maple neck. The neck has a comfortable 9.5” radius and is fitted with 21 vintage-style frets. This model comes with a traditional Jazzmaster control layout and is fitted with a pair of Fender Vintage-Style Single-Coil Jazzmaster pickups.
MSRP – YEN 137,500
Fender Japan
As always the Japanese market gets some of the best designs and so these exclusive models may be hard to track down outside of their market. However, I have always found that if you search hard enough, you will almost always find a dealer that can export them to you wherever you are.

The chrome pickup cover on the humbucker really jars against the uncovered single coils on an HSS Strat.
Can’t say I agree with that statement, as I quite like it. But it will be a matter of personal taste for sure. No wrong answers!
Again a matching headstock on a jazzmaster, oh the horror. When will Fender get it right and just do plain maple headstock front again? I agree with the Untrusted’s remark regarding the HB cover on the strat, just looks weird, out of place, open coils would look better
