Roland JC-120 Jazz Chorus 50th Anniversary Limited Edition
Do you need a cherry wood JC-120 combo? Well, you are in luck as Roland just announced a special one
Roland has announced a new JC-120 Jazz Chorus 50th Anniversary Limited Edition in a Cherry Wood finish to celebrate 50 years of the popular amp model. An amp that is known for its lush stereo chorus and clean tone.
Roland JC-120 Jazz Chorus 50th Anniversary
Apparently, it has been 50 years since the Roland JC-120 was first produced and it is still in production today. This JC-120 Jazz Chorus 50th Anniversary Limited Edition is finished in a Cherry Wood finish and there are only 350 being produced. Each one comes with a commemorative badge engraved with the individual number.
“Japan is famous for cherry blossoms, and we’ve infused our national heritage into the JC-120 Jazz Chorus Roland 50th Anniversary Limited Edition with an attractive cherry wood veneer”
Limited Edition
Yes, they are a limited edition, however, the only difference, unless I have missed something is that cherry wood veneer and a hand-engraved serial number on the metal badge on the front, plus a dark grey grille cloth.
Collectors
I have a feeling that collectors may like these, but I am guessing that these small finish changes will not really set the world on fire. Essentially, it is a regular JC-120 with a different finish applied.
How Much?
With a price of €1999/¢1999.99/£1755 * it is a bit of a steep upcharge. Especially, as you can buy a regular JC-120 for around £500 less and they will both sound the same.
The market for 120-watt clean stereo amps with a nice chorus effect is a fairly small one and so this will be one for the collectors I would imagine.
Pre-Order
The pre-orders for these are open now and the amps will ship in February 2023. If you want one for your collection, then Thomann has some available from the link below.

Chorus really doesn’t sounds as good as the vintage one, even the vintage JC55’s chorus sounds incredible.
I still own ( and use often) my 1970s MIJ JC120. The cleans are sweet. the Chorus is still absolutely unbeatable. I have worked in studios all over the world and these amps are priceless in the recording industry. If you are a session player…these are a ” must have”.
I had a 120 and It sounded anemic vs my fender twin w-jbls.
wouldn’t recommend.
I have both the JC-120 and Fender Twin and others. One isn’t better than the other. They are just different. One may be better at a particular thing but that doesn’t diminish the character of the other. It’s music. Come on, man.
