NAMM 2017: Dreadbox tip 4 voices into the Abyss
I love a bit of Dreadbox. Their Erebus is one of the most perfect semi-modular desktop synths around. It’s acres of fun to play with and a great gateway synth to a larger modular setup. The Abyss is their long promised polyphonic desktop synth, and it looks awesome.
Abyss
All I have is the image from Dreadbox Instagram and a little bit of video (from SonicState). What I can tell you so far is that it follows the style of their new NYX synth rather than the Erebus with the inclusion of all those sliders. The delay returns (yay!) along with a phaser and something called Reflector which is probably a reverb. There appear to be polyphonic, unison and chord modes and a complete absence of patch points. Hopefully, the back of the unit will reveal some control voltage possibilities.
Price and availability are unknown but it looks great and the sounds do not disappoint so far. Nothing on the website as yet.
