Arturia PolyBrute Limited Noir Edition Now Available
UPDATE: Following a long tradition of releasing limited versions of their hardware synth in black, the Arturia PolyBrute Noir Edition now joins this exclusive club.
Back to Black
Not content with producing some of the most exciting hardware synths of recent years, Arturia have decided to add their highly regarded PolyBrute to the Noir Edition collection. Originally leaked via U.S. retailer, Pitbull Audio (link now dead), the PolyBrute Noir Edition follows the criteria very closely. Gone are the tan-coloured end cheeks, with their Tolex covered recesses. The unique brown wood effect on the delightful multi-axis Morphée controller disappears, as does the strip housing the ribbon controller.
Ebony & Ivory
All of these are replaced with black wood alternatives. Even the metal work benefits from a smooth, new black paint job, with the pitch bend and mod wheels now ionised black. The only splashes of contrast are the green and orange nomenclature and knobs that help distinguish between the two filter types provided by the PolyBrute. And the only white knob on the original, used for rate control in the sequencer/arp section, is now black as night. I wonder if anyone thought about making an all black keyboard too?
New Colour, Same Powerful PolyBrute Sound
As with all Noir editions, the specifications of the synth remain the same as the non-noir editions. The PolyBrute still delivers massively on that front. A real powerhouse of analog polyphony, with its six Brute oscillators, the PolyBrute has garnered many plaudits since its original release two and a half years ago. No doubt Arturia see this new edition as a timely boost to the sales of its flagship synth. One has to wonder if they will produce the wooden legs in a similar black wood. Will the super useful PolyBrute Connect app display the Noir Edition colour scheme when this particular model is connected?
More Information
There is no price premium for the Noir Edition. With previous examples, the Noir Editions often garner some positive responses from the buying public. Expect to see these generate some reasonable demand now that Arturia have finally revealed it.

Love the look. Had the polybrute. This was not my cup of tea.
love the sound of this synth; still not the budget nor the space to have it; but I prefer the original look
