This week we check out some news about the various YouTuber-owned guitar brands, including Solar Guitars’ new XF6FRFSB. Plus, we ask what has happened to Chapman Guitars’ all-new Workshop Series of UK-made guitars.
Solar Guitars
The new Solar Guitars XF6FRFSB is not just another electric guitar made in the Far East. Instead, Ola Englund‘s new European Master Series is a high-end model.
Aimed at pro guitarists and fans of Dimebag Darrel, as it is clearly inspired by the late Pantera guitarist’s taste in axes.
These come fitted with custom-wound Solar Modern SA56BEU and SA56NEU humbuckers, that can be adjusted by a single volume knob, a three-way pickup toggle and a killswitch.

AAA Flame
This model comes in a new Solarburst finish over a AAA book-matched flat flame maple top and it has a matching headstock cap in the same finish.
It comes with a mahogany body and a solid mahogany 24.75″ scale-length neck. The fretboard has a 10-12” compound radius made of Richlite. And is fitted with 22 stainless steel super jumbo frets, Luminlay fret markers and Solar’s logo inlaid at the 12th fret.

Made in England Workshop Series
Elsewhere it looks as though Chapman Guitars‘ new Made in England Workshop Series has had a major setback and is now looking for a new UK-based guitar builder to make them.
Rob Chapman’s guitar brand has had a lot of setbacks recently, having just lost Rabea Massaad as a signature artist and now this.
We’ve recently been made aware that it’s looking unlikely that UK Guitar Builders (UKGB) will be able to fulfil any more orders for the companies it supplies, including Chapman’s UK workshop series.

UKGB has yet to make an official statement and so currently, the only information we have is the Instagram post from Chapman Guitars.
These were always going to be expensive guitars to produce, but now they may not make it off the ground at all.
Hopefully, Rob can convince another UK-based guitar builder/luthier to work with him on this range, as it would be great for the guitar industry in the UK.

Badlands Guitars
Also, don’t forget that Badlands Guitars has also just announced they are releasing a new model this year. I talked about it last month and they are yet another YouTube ‘personality’ owned guitar brand.

The Badlands Guitar Company was founded by Philip McKnight and The Tone King. Their new GX1 Redline model looks very retro ’80s and I like it a lot.

Do we really need any more YouTube Guitar Brands?
My personal opinion is that if the guitars are well made then I can see a place for them in the market. Just there are already a lot of great guitar makers, who have built their reputations in one way or another. So these YouTuber-based guitar brands need to compete in an already crowded marketplace.
And some of them will no doubt fail, whereas some will hopefully flourish.
