Superbooth 23: Shakmat Modular Clocks, Gates, Hi-Hats and Kicks
Four new modules from Shakmat Modular, including the Archer’s Rig Hi-Hat, Battering Ram Kick Drum, Clock O’Pawn Mk2 Clock Generator and Centaur’s Gates, which is many things.
Archer’s Rig
Archer’s Rig is a hybrid digital and analogue hi-hat module with 10 algorithms and 8 effects. It has an analogue VCA, filters and distortions acting on the digital sources. It has a randomizer where each parameter gets it’s own spin and you can save up to 96 presets.
There are some short demos on Facebook which make it sound pretty mental.
Battering Ram
This is a Kick Drum Synthesizer designed with Marc Nostromo. Pitch, Depth and Decay is pretty much all it’s about. It has two different drive/distortion modes, a highpass filter at 30Hz and an option for a ducking envelope output.
Quick demo on this Facebook post.
Clock O’Pawn Mk2
There’s always room for a flexible clock generator. The Clock O’Pawn Mk2 has dozens of grooves and accented patterns built in making it a useful source of percussion. It will run on its own clock, via tap tempo or MIDI. It has some humanisation built in and is Select Bus compatible.
Centaur’s Gates
This is a dual multi-type gate with eight different types. It has two different flavours of multimode filter. It’s a LPG and VCA with distortion and a feedback loop. There’s an “Opto Mode” that simulates vactrol CV response. The dual architecture can be run in series or parallel. It’s also Select Bus compatible.
