The new Behringer Alpha and Omega Headphones: Behr-dynamic?

Are the Behringer Alpha and Omega the be-all and end-all of budget headphones? We take a closer look at these biblically named headphones and find out if they are the revelation we were hoping for.
Behringer headphones are nothing new of course, they have been produced for years for a range of applications including music production and recording, broadcasting, DJing, and recreational listening.
Behringer Alpha
The new Alpha Headphones provide an open-back discrete monitoring solution for music creation and mixing. The familiar-looking circumaural design features 50mm drivers and ear pads that are “ultra-soft” according to the manufacturer.
In addition, the 3-meter cable is detachable and easily replaceable, and it uses a two-sided cable connector for routing into the headset. Besides that, they ship with a 3.5mm minijack to 6.3mm adapter and a protective carry case.

Behringer Omega
With a slightly different, but still open-back design, the Omega Headphones have the same set of features as the Alpha. However, the Omega’s 53mm drivers are slightly larger, with the same frequency range.
Like the Alpha, the Omega also includes a screw-in 6.3mm jack adapter and a useful case to protect them from dust and any bumps on the road.

Overall, it seems that the idea is to choose either the Alpha or Omega according to your taste and the style of music or audio you’re working with.
With larger drivers, the Omega’s frequency response curve is likely to be more pronounced in the low range, so keep this in mind.
