Fender Mike McCready Stratocaster – Road Worn Nitro Finish
Road Worn Nitro Finish
The Mike McCready Stratocaster is the new aged model and built in Mexico. It follows on from the super expensive Custom Shop model for the Pearl Jam guitarist. Though this one is a lot more affordable.
Fender Mike McCready Stratocaster
This Fender Mike McCready Stratocaster has an aged 3-colour Sunburst finish, which makes it look the part.
Mexican Aged
Though, as already stated in the introduction above, this model is made in Mexico and costs a lot less than his previous Fender Custom Shop edition.

Road Worn Nitro Finish
The Road Worn Nitro Finish is obviously a large part of these guitars’ aesthetic and will appeal to many Pearl Jam fans.
It is covered in lots and lots of faux battle scars and has been made to look like it has been in a fight with a few flight cases and drum kits in its lifetime.
Custom Appointments
It comes with an alder body, which has that super beaten and bashed-around relic work applied at the factory.
This guitar also sports a 9.5-inch radius rosewood fretboard and a slim “C” maple neck, that Fender has modeled after McCready’s personal 1960 Strat.
It also comes with a set of Mike McCready Stratocaster custom pickups that mimic his vintage Strat tones. The wiring is standard for a Strat, though it does have a Treble Bleed circuit added.
Plus, a Fender Vintage-Style Synchronized Tremolo with a Stainless Steel Block and a set of Bent Steel Saddles.
The guitar also has Mike McCready’s signature on the rear of the headstock. It comes in a Fender Deluxe Brown Hardshell included in the price.
Verdict
Overall, it is a guitar that will emulate that well-used ’60s style Stratocaster and one that I am sure fans of both McCready, Pearl Jam, and road-worn finishes will love.
At £1649 in the UK it is a pretty expensive Mexican-made guitar, but I just think that guitar prices are going up across all manufacturers in recent years.
Thankfully, it does come with a decent hard case though.
This new Mike McCready-aged model is available from Thomann for pre-order now.
