Universal Audio OX Stomp Dynamic Speaker Emulator pedal
Universal Audio announces new pedal format Dynamic Speaker Emulator
The Universal Audio OX Stomp Dynamic Speaker Emulator is their fourteenth pedal and brings authentic-sounding speaker, cab, mic, and room tones to the UAFX lineup.
OX Stomp
The UAFX OX Stomp Dynamic Speaker Emulator is a compact pedal format, potentially making it perfect for pedalboard setups and virtual modelers.
“When we released the original OX Amp Top Box, we were thrilled to see the demand from guitarists who appreciated the sonic authenticity of our modeling.
At the same time, some guitarists didn’t need the reactive load box feature of OX —they just wanted the cabinet, mic, and room emulations. OX Stomp hits that nail on the head and lets them take their tone to the next level.” – Tore Mogensen, Senior UA Product Manager.
It contains 22 speaker cabs, six vintage microphones, and a studio-quality reverb, delay, EQ, modulation, plus the 1176 compression effect.
UAFX Control
This stereo guitar pedal features Dynamic Speaker Modeling with the aforementioned speaker cabs and vintage microphones.
Along with the full-featured studio-quality reverb, a stereo delay (dual, crossover, ping-pong), EQ, modulation, and 1176 compression, all of this can be edited via the UAFX Control app.
Flexible
It will work with both instrument and line-level signals, making it fairly versatile. However, it does not contain the speaker load or power attenuator of the original OX Amp Top Box.
It does though contain, over 100 curated RIGs perfect for any amp emulator and for practically any genre. Plus, the speaker modeling includes speaker breakup, drive, and cone cry.
Verdict
All of this adds up to a very capable, compact speaker emulator system. Though, it is a fairly pricey one with an official MSRP of $399. It also requires a modern 400 mA isolated power supply, which is sold separately.

One response to “Universal Audio OX Stomp Dynamic Speaker Emulator pedal”
It’s a different technology entirely, but just in case this helps anyone, I’ve been extremely happy with my Palmer PDI-09 speaker simulator for an amp output to a PA. It’s a passive device, so no extra power cables; very easy to use.
