These Fender Highway Series Acoustics models come in both parlor and dreadnought sizes. This new line combines some of their Acoustasonic range’s construction and makes these acoustics more manageable for players that require a less bulky instrument.

Fender Highway Series Acoustics

Fender Highway Series Acoustics is billed as offering a thin, ergonomic form factor and a Fishman Fluence Acoustic Pickup system designed around a revolutionary Tapered Floating X bracing structure.

This is a new made-in-Mexico range so the price point isn’t as high as their US-made Acoustasonic models. However, it is still quite expensive for a fairly basic acoustic guitar.

Slimline

Essentially, it gives guitarists a fairly slimline acoustic with a more electric guitar-style neck. This new range has launched with two sizes available, a parlor and a dreadnought.

Both models come with an ergonomically contoured fully-chambered thinline body made from mahogany with either a Solid Sitka spruce or mahogany top.

This is then paired with a bolt-on mahogany C-shape neck with a 12″ radius  Indian rosewood fretboard fitted with 20 narrow-tall frets.

Fishman

Both models come with a Fishman Fluence Acoustic Pickup system that incorporates a curved magnetic Fluence Core pickup in the soundhole.

Players then have a Volume and a Contour control on the front of the guitar for shaping the sound. Overall, a nice simple setup and one that is easy to manage when playing live.

The price includes a Fender Deluxe gig bag.

Verdict

Fender has tried to reimagine the acoustic guitar with this new Highway Series and I would guess that it will have some players really wanting to check them out.

They aren’t very traditional, though they offer some benefits for players that want a smaller less bulky acoustic guitar, with more electric guitar-like playability.
