Guitar Gear Gems: DOD Chthonic Fuzz and more
The sold out Lollar Overdrive could be a scalper's dream
This week on Guitar Gear Gems we check out the new DOD Chthonic Fuzz pedal aimed at lower output single-coil pickups, and then we take a peek at the latest Ibanez wah pedal, the Twin Peaks. Finally, we take a look at the new Lollar Overdrive pedal, which sold out in under 3 hours.
DOD Chthonic Fuzz
The DOD Chthonic Fuzz pedal is the first new product from the recently rejuvenated Digitech/DOD brand. This fuzz has been designed specifically for guitars with lower-output single-coil pickups. The idea is that a lot of guitarists are now playing offset-style instruments with single-coil pickups.
Lustre
The fuzz has controls for Fuzz and Output plus the Lustre control that is used to fine-tune the tone of the effect. It has a similar look to their popular Carcosa fuzz, though this one has a Kraken graphic and a blue housing.
The Carcosa is a great modern-day fuzz circuit and super versatile. Hopefully, this new Chthonic will be just as useful for single-coil players. As the Carcosa can be a little too shrill with single-coil pickups.
MSRP – USD 149

Ibanez Twin Peaks Wah
The all-new Ibanez Twin Peaks Wah pedal offers a different take on the standard wah wah sound. It does this by utilising dual peak points at both higher and lower frequencies. This is achieved by using dual inductor circuitry and makes for a unique wah voicing.
TONE mode switch
The pedal features a TONE mode switch and this allows the user to adjust the higher frequencies at 670Hz to 3kHz and the lower frequencies between 440Hz to 2kHz. There is also a Master LEVEL control with a 6dB boost available.
The new Ibanez Twin Peaks is available for pre-order on Thomann here

Lollar Overdrive
Lollar is known for making excellent guitar pickups. Yet they recently announced their first-ever pedal. The Lollar Overdrive has unfortunately already sold out, it did so within 3 hours of going on sale.
The limited run of 100 pedals was built in conjunction with KGR Harmony Effects. It also came in a unique pedal housing made using a Japanese forging technique known as nambu-tekki.
Controls
The overdrive has Volume and Gain plus a 3-band EQ which should be easy enough to dial in. The big question though, is will Lollar now make more? As they could always release the overdrive circuit in slightly less fancy housing and sell a lot more.
At $350 each, they were pretty expensive and are already being listed by scalpers online for a lot more.
MSRP – USD 350 (SOLD OUT)
