EarthQuaker Devices Blumes Low Signal Shredder
Bass tuned overdrive with three clipping modes
The Earthquaker Devices Blumes Low Signal Shredder is the newly developed overdrive for bass and guitar. Based on the extremely popular Plumes.
Blumes Low Signal Shredder
EarthQuaker Devices’ Blumes Low Signal Shredder pedal is based on the Plumes Small Signal Shredder. However, this bass-centric, modified version doubles the gain and enhances the bass response, ensuring your low-end never gets lost.
Dynamics & Headroom
The Blumes uses an internal bipolar power supply, which ensures better dynamics and more headroom. The result is a three-dimensional sound with additional clarity, which also takes tube amplifiers to the extreme if necessary. Of course, the pedal with these features is also ideal for drop tunings and low-tuned guitars, as well as bass.
Three Clipping Modes
The pedal has simple controls, Level, Tone, and Gain that users can then use to adjust the drive.
It also benefits from three distinct clipping modes including Symmetrical LED Clipping for a crunchier, more compressed sound. Then there is No Clipping (OpAmp Drive) which has a wide-open clean boost. And finally Asymmetrical Silicon Diode Clipping for a transparent tone with a looser feel. Using this last mode leads to a warmer low-end response and lower output. It sounds more like fuzz with half the initial level and is the most compressed.
Flexi-Switch
Blumes is a true bypass circuit and uses the EQD’s Flexi-Switch technology, which allows users to hold for momentary applications or tap the switch to turn it on or off.
Only $99!
One of the key attractions is the price point, which is only $99 and I think this offers a lot of value. The audio demos over on EarthQuaker’s site show off some great drive tones for both bass and guitar. This is a versatile and affordable drive pedal, which could make it a great studio tool as well.
MSRP – USD 99
