Barefoot FOOTPRINT03: A 3-way Nearfield with MEME Monitor Emulation
A competitive addition to the FOOTPRINT line...
The Barefoot FOOTPRINT03 is a 3-way tri-amplified nearfield monitor with built-in DSP, and monitor emulation to save you switching monitors.
For those who are unfamiliar, Barefoot is one of the most sought-after brands in the world of professional studio monitors. The company rose to prominence with the success of their MiniMain monitors which you can find in top studios all over the globe.
Barefoot FOOTPRINT03
The FOOTPRINT03 is a new addition to Barefoot’s FOOTPRINT range of 3-way nearfield monitors. Incorporating technology from the other Barefoot ranges, it’s equipped with Specially Optimized Conversion (SPOC) for ultra-low-latency DSP and Multi Emphasis Monitor Emulation (MEME) for shifting between different monitor characteristics.
The tri-amplified design uses a 6.5-inch woofer (100W), a 3.5-inch midrange driver (100W), and a 1-inch tweeter (60W) with a bass port situated on the side of the cabinet.
According to Barefoot, the FOOTPRINT03 has a frequency response of 5 Hz to 40 kHz at +/-3 dB and 50 Hz to 22 kHz at +/-1 dB. Meanwhile, the monitor will produce a maximum SPL of 101 dB.
Like many of the other Barefoot monitor ranges, the FOOTPRINT03 uses the MEME technology to emulate the characteristics of three specific monitor types.
These include:
- Hi-Fi: A Hi-Fi speaker emulation for reference playback purposes
- Flat: Disengages the DSP
- Old School: A Yamaha NS-10 emulation for engineers who prefer its characteristics
- Cube: An emulation of the unforgiving Auratone Cube monitors
Pricing and availability:
The FOOTPRINT03 is currently available at $1,995 for the pair.
