Charlie Starr Gets a Badass Gibson Les Paul Junior
Blackberry Smoke frontman Charlie Starr is rocking a brand new signature model, Les Paul Junior from Gibson, and it’s a scorcher!
Charlie Starr
This isn’t your average Les Paul Junior. It’s built to pay homage to Charlie Starr’s trusty 1956 model, which has been by his side for years. The road-worn guitar has been well-documented and appears in the Gibson video below.
Two Slick Options to Choose From
The Charlie Starr Les Paul Junior comes in two finishes: stealthy black that screams cool and warm walnut that oozes vintage class. Both keep the classic 50s Les Paul Junior vibe alive. They feature a mahogany body and neck with an Indian rosewood fretboard with 22 frets, dot inlays and a Graphtech nut.
This guitar packs a single P-90 pickup, delivering those rich, punchy tones that are pure Southern rock goodness, just like Starr’s signature sound.
Vintage Feel, Modern Playability
The guitar has a compensated saddle (Badass-style) bridge for perfect tuning, and Grover tuners that make string changes a breeze.
A Guitar with a Story
Here’s a remarkable fact: Starr’s original 1956 Les Paul Junior has some history. In the 90s, he stumbled upon it at a tiny guitar shop in Atlanta. It used to belong to Rick Richards of the Georgia Satellites, one of Starr’s musical heroes!
Case Candy
The package includes the guitar, a Gator Skin case, a “Hey Ya’ll” sticker, and a signature ceramic slide.
This new model is a limited edition run of 250 guitars in each colour, and they are currently available at Thomann. The model with the ebony finish costs €1,999 from Thomann*. The version in dark walnut also costs €1,999 from Thomann* .
