Easily the world’s most popular microphone, the industry-standard Shure SM58 is available in a special edition with a sleek black finish.
The SM58 was originally introduced back in 1966 and remains the industry standard microphone in live music venues worldwide. With its clarity, off-axis cancellation, and indestructible build quality it’s certainly here to stay.
Shure SM58 SE
The new black special edition version has the same specifications as the original, with its familiar cardioid pickup pattern and 50 – 15,000 Hz frequency range. In addition, the robust pneumatic internal shock mount and pop filter ensure vocal clarity.
The SM58 is designed for live vocal performance, but it will also work well for podcasting, content creation, and home recording. Furthermore, you can add the A58WS windshield to further reduce sibilance and plosives.
With an impedance rating of 300 ohms, the 58 is considered a low-output device and will require a decent mic preamp to perform optimally. This means that the average audio interface might not have enough discrete gain to power the 58 without significantly increasing the noise floor.
Instead of running it directly into your interface, try using a channel on your analogue mixer or an in-line preamp like the Cloudlifter or FEThead. Overall, the classic mic is reborn in black, and ships in a zip-up carry bag with a microphone clip and thread adapter.
