Fender Mark Hoppus Jag Bass: Blink-182 Vibes and no Tone Control (again)
If you’re a Blink fan, you kind of knew this was coming: the Fender Mark Hoppus Jag Bass! Blink-182’s bassist and singer could be seen with his new signature during shows as early as May.
Fender and Mark Hoppus: The bas(s)ics
Signature models from Blink-182 bassist and vocalist Mark Hoppus have been around for a long time. His first Fender Jazz Bass was released in 2002 and there have been several updates in the years since. A few years ago, the first batch of Fender Jag basses appeared, which Mark sold to fans on his own website. And they sold out so quickly that Mark apparently sat down with Fender again.
And if Tom DeLongue gets a new Fender signature, so is Mark! If you’re a fan of Blink and their gear, you might want to follow the Gear182 Instagram account. There, you’ll find pictures of the band and their gear. A few months ago, they posted a photo of Mark on stage with a new Jag bass – the Fender Mark Hoppus Jag bass, it turns out!
Fender Mark Hoppus Jag Bass: Still no tone control
The new Fender Mark Hoppus Jag Bass features an alder body, custom C-profile maple neck, and rosewood fretboard with white pearl dot inlays. The four-string single cutaway also comes with 20 medium jumbo frets with a 34” (864 mm) scale and a synthetic bone nut.
The pickup remains tried and tested: Seymor Duncan Quarter Pound P-Bass split-coil. And, as before, without tone control. Either you like Mark’s sound, or you don’t (Mark). A 4-saddle HiMass vintage bridge and open-gear tuners are also part of this signature, all in a nickel/chrome look. The new model is available in two finishes: 3-color Sunburst and Sea Foam Green with a matching headstock.
What does the Fender Mark Hoppus Jag Bass cost?
Each bass costs 1,449 euros at Thomann*. A deluxe gig bag is included.
