The Jackson SL7 HT Jeff Loomis is the fourth signature model for the Nevermore guitarist. This 7-string hardtail model offers a new variation on his Floyd Rose-equipped 2022 model.

SL7 HT Jeff Loomis

Jeff Loomis has been a very well-regarded technical metal guitarist for many years, and his Jackson signature guitars are always unique. For 2024, the new Jackson SL7 HT model has been announced, and this hardtail 7-string model features a Hipshot bridge.

7-String

This should make the 7-string design even tighter and offer more sustain with better tuning stability, making it perfect for a technical player like Loomis. It has a 26.5″scale length, ideal for lower tunings and keeping those thicker strings playing nicely.

The basswood body has a sandblasted ash top and a through-body three-piece maple neck with graphite reinforcement.

Then they went with a 12″-16″ compound radius bound ebony fretboard fitted with 24 jumbo frets, pearloid sharkfin inlays, and Luminlay glow-in-the-dark side dots.

It also has a heel-mount truss rod adjustment wheel, so setting it up should be straightforward when dialing it in for your playing style.

It comes in Satin Black with white binding, which looks mean and is very much in keeping with Jeff’s style.

Noumenon

This new model features Seymour Duncan’s signature Jeff Loumis Noumenon pickups. They are controlled by a simple setup consisting of a three-position pickup toggle switch and a single volume control.

Hardware

This model has a set of Jackson-sealed die-cast tuners and locking strap buttons. As you would expect, all the hardware is black.

Verdict

I always have a soft spot for Jackson Loomis’ signature guitars. They are no-fuss, straight-to-the-point guitars designed for modern technical players. This model’s longer scale length should also make it perfect for drop tuning and players needing a tight, low-end response.

Hardtail and passive pickups somehow feels so wrong in a Jeff Loomis signature. Absolutely love it though! I really need to get my hands on a set of those Noumenon pickups.
