The Gibson Jimmy Page 1964 SJ-200 is a meticulous recreation of the acoustic guitar behind legendary performances and recordings from Jimmy Page. Each of the 100 guitars was handcrafted at the Gibson Custom Shop in Bozeman, Montana, and aged by the Murphy Lab in a Cherry Tea Sunburst finish.
The Gibson Jimmy Page SJ-200 features flamed AAA maple for the back and sides and AAA Sitka spruce for the top. Its Super Jumbo body has added depth at the neck joint, resulting in a unique sound. And take a look at that pickguard!
1964 SJ-200 Collector’s Edition
The Gibson Jimmy Page 1964 SJ-200 Collector’s Edition is no less impressive. There are only 50 copies of this even more exclusive edition available. And the man himself, Jimmy Page, has personally signed each copy on the back of the headstock. Both models have excellent playability with a comfortable round profile and a bound rosewood fingerboard that features 20 standard frets and high-quality inlays.
Both the Standard and Collector’s Editions feature a 60s-style Rosewood Moustache fretboard and are fitted with a gold Tune-O-Matic bridge, adding to the tonal aesthetic of both guitars.
Gibson made sure to include all the details that Jimmy Page would want, like a special manual with his famous Zoso logo and a range of accessories, from a Gibson Custom Hardshell Case to a handmade guitar stand.
How much does the signature acoustic guitar from Jimmy Page and Gibson cost?
Ok, there are good news and bad news. The good news is, you don’t have to sell your house, your other guitars (*shiver), or your family because both the Gibson Jimmy Page SJ-200 and the Gibson Jimmy Page 1964 SJ-200 Collector’s Edition are already sold out at Thomann. The bad news is, they’re not cheap, no matter where you find them.
The Gibson Jimmy Page 1964 SJ-200 costs 13,199 euros, while the collector’s edition goes for 20,299 euros. Like the double neck, these are collector’s prices. But if you’re after the SJ-200’s sound, I’d argue there are a couple of non-signature editions available that still get you pretty close.
