The newly refreshed and redesigned Bad Cat Cub V amp range uses a point-to-point hand-wired circuit. This should ensure better clarity and note definition and be robust, easy to service, and rock solid.

The Cubs models are also supposed to produce slightly more aggressive tones. The amps have 15 or 40 watts of tube power, and you can choose between models with EL84 or EL34. There is also a first-class onboard tube-driven spring reverb.

Preamp Tubes

However, what makes these amps unique is the ability to switch between 12AX7 and EF86 preamp tubes (also accessible via a footswitch). Combined with the 5-way depth control, you can achieve very different sound textures.

Simple

Bad Cat has designed an excellent, user-friendly amp with a simple control layout. This allows users to dial in fantastic tube amp tones quickly. I’ve owned a few Bad Cat models in my life, and they are glorious when turned up and react very well to the controls on your guitar and your playing dynamics. Therefore, I would expect these to be the same.

Hand Wired

These American, hand-wired boutique models are more expensive than mass-produced models. However, you get what you pay for, and these amps will be the ones you want to play with. I’m pretty confident they will reward you with some fantastic tones.
