Christmas came early! Because over at HeadRush, we’re getting new multi-effect, the HeadRush Flex Prime. Next, there is also a new portable amp that’s perfect for busking. Then they’re releasing their own amp modeler. And all the existing Prime models get an update to version 4-0 with a host of new features!
HeadRush Flex Prime: At Eye-Level with Nano Cortex and Boss GX-10
Lately, we seem to be in the middle of the great shrinking of multi-effects. NeuralDSP Nano Cortex, Boss GX-10, Kemper Profiler Player, Fractal Audio VP-20 – each stomp modeler came with much of the respective bigger version, sometimes a few, sometimes more cutbacks, and both a much smaller price and a much smaller size.
This seems to be the direction the HeadRush Flex Prime is also taking. While it might look similar to 2021’s MX5, it comes with both the CPU and the software of the bigger Prime models. The Flex Prime offers a lot of bang, sound quality, and versatility for your buck.
Over 600 Effects, Amps, and IRs
While its three foot switches, expression pedal, two controls, and 4-inch touch screen are nothing spectacular, the HeadRush Flex Prime comes loaded with over 600 effects, amp emulations, and IRs. And since the multi-effect comes with the same kind of horsepower as the bigger Prime models, there are a whopping 14 DSP blocks per preset you can load with these modules in.
Due to its powerful multicore CPU, you also get gapless switching from preset to preset. The pedal comes with onboard Wi-Fi, so you can wirelessly change its parameters and load additional presets from HeadRush Cloud. It is a looper with save/load functionality and MIDI sync.
The company is also releasing a free software update to current Core and Prime models to version 4.0. This adds features like a Remote Web Editor, SuperClone support, several new FX, and numerous user-requested enhancements. Flex Prime is available now at Thomann* for 549 euros.
FRFR Go Portable Amplifier and ReValver Amp Cloner
In addition to the HeadRush Prime Flex, the company is also releasing a new 30-watt portable amp with dual 3-inch speakers, the FRFR Go. Of course, it brings Bluetooth connectivity so you can stream and play along to your favorite songs with up to 13 hours of battery life. The FRFR Go portable amplifier weighs 7.4 lbs. It’s also available at Thomann* for 159 euros.
And finally, HeadRush is also releasing a new software product, the ReValver Amp Cloner. The product name pretty much says what the software does: it helps you create models from hardware (and software!) amps. Through a process, they call SuperClone, the company claims that you can easily create profiles from amps, pedals (distortion, overdrive, or fuzz), both hardware and plug-ins, “while maintaining true-to-source sound across adjustable parameters”. How close the models get compared to the competition, remains to be heard. The new version of HeadRush ReValver 5.1 Suite that includes Amp Cloner is available now for $199.
