Mooer Unleashes the Prime Minimax M1
The Mooer Prime Minimax M1 is your portable guitar rig that will fit in your pocket
Mooer is about to launch the Prime Minimax M1. Building upon the success of its predecessor, the Prime Stomp S1, the M1 offers a more compact and versatile solution for both guitarists and bassists.
Prime Minimax M1
The new Prime Minimax M1 is Mooer’s latest product. It has the same look and style as the S1. This ultra-compact new model covers many basics that a guitarist or bass player needs when on the move.
With just two multi-function footswitches and two buttons, this minimal interface manages to incorporate many features while maintaining ease of use.
Pocket Powerhouse
The Prime Minimax M1 boasts an impressive array of 149 effect models, meticulously crafted to deliver “proper” guitar/bass tones and flexibility.
From classic amp and cabinet simulations to modern dynamic, modulation, delay, and reverb effects, the M1 has everything you need to shape your sound. Notably, 20 amp and cabinet simulations are specifically tailored for bass guitarists, making it an ideal choice for players seeking a comprehensive and portable solution.
Expand Your Sound with MOOER Cloud
The M1 integrates with MOOER Cloud, that allows users to customise and share presets. Connecting via Bluetooth 5 lets you easily import third-party IR files, expanding the usability and allowing players to emulate amps and cabinets.
Practice, Perform, and Create
The Prime Minimax M1 is more than just a regular multi-effects pedal. It’s a comprehensive creative tool with a built-in drum machine and looper. With 40 drum grooves and ten metronomes, users can practice and jam along to various rhythms. The 80-second looper lets you capture and layer your song ideas.
This makes it a potentially handy product to keep in your gig bag for when you have some downtime and want to try out some new song ideas, etc.
The Prime M1 can be connected to a tablet or smartphone via a USB cable for OTG recording. It also has a headphone out, a TRS stereo jack output, and a standard guitar jack input.
Rechargeable Battery
The compact unit has an internal 2000mAh integrated lithium battery, which can be charged via USB-C and has a life of around five hours. Again, this could be a handy little box to use if you travel around a lot, and as it uses USB-C, it will be simple enough to charge up when on the move.
Despite its many features, the M1 maintains a sleek and compact design. Two multi-functional footswitches provide intuitive control over presets, loops, tuner, tap tempo, and drum machine functions. The LED screen displays essential information, including Bluetooth status, battery life, and footswitch assignments.
Verdict
It is relatively cheap and has many features, but it may be better as an occasional tool rather than a primary source for your guitar/bass tones. I found the first official demo video annoying, and the Mooer site doesn’t have any other sound demos, so I’ll have to reserve judgment on how good or bad this unit is regarding amp and effect tones.
Thankfully, another video was uploaded soon after the first one, and it sounds okay, not exactly breathtaking, but more than passable as a practice tool.
