Audiolatry Drumtastic: No-Frills Drum ROMpler
Like most producers, you’ve probably got a huge library of drum sounds on your hard drive that keeps getting bigger every day. But sometimes, you don’t have the patience to sift through endless folders of kicks, snares, and hi-hats to find the right sounds. Sometimes, you just want to pull up a drum kit, make a few quick adjustments, and start making beats. We all know that too much choice can quickly stop the creative flow.
And that’s where Drumtastic by Audiolatry comes in. This handy drum ROMpler is loaded with 50 kits for a wide variety of styles. Each kit consists of eight sounds with controls for gain, pan, and pitch. The straightforward interface makes it practically impossible to get distracted.
In addition to this, Drumtastic offers three built-in effects for sound shaping. These are also as simple and easy to use as it gets. There’s a room reverb, a distortion effect, and a delay that syncs to your song tempo. You can specify different sync values for the left and right channels to create interesting stereo effects.
Drumtastic is available for macOS and Windows in VST, VST3, and AU formats.
Platone Studio Alton Limiter
Alton Limiter by Platone Studio is a straightforward peak limiter for mixing and mastering that helps keep your levels in check and maximize the volume of your tracks without distortion. It’s got all the familiar controls of a brickwall limiter: Set the desired ceiling, adjust the threshold to catch the peaks while keeping an eye on the gain reduction meter, and dial in the optimum release time to achieve a smooth and balanced sound. Alton Limiter also offers a stereo link feature for limiting both channels simultaneously, as opposed to processing them separately.
Alton Limiter is available for macOS and Windows in VST, VST3, and AU formats.
Codwaves Seaquake Techno Rumble
This may be the shortest demo video I’ve ever seen for a plugin, but it does a great job of showing you exactly what this plugin does. Seaquake Techno Rumble makes it easy to add the classic “rumble” sound to any kick drum – an absolute necessity in many styles of techno. No need to fiddle with a bunch of reverbs, compressors, and distortion effects – this plugin does it all in one.
You can adjust the Length and Delay of the effect and use the Dynamics knob to fine-tune the intensity. There’s also a built-in Distortion stage, as well as a Colour knob for modifying the tonal character of the rumble.
Seaquake Techno Rumble is available for macOS and Windows in VST and AU formats.
