Get instant atmospheric generation with Dronar Free Edition
Dronar from Gothic Instruments is one of those massive cinematic type, tension infused, sound designing, Kontakt pumping sound libraries with an innovative control engine. Honestly, I think the ease of the control system is pretty awesome and the sound output certainly doesn’t disappoint.
Dronar Free Edition
Since the release of the Hybrid Sound Module last year there’s been a series of modules built on the same engine. It’s all about the atmospherics, complex soundscapes and textures. There’s a lot of stuff going on under the hood to pull out evolving sounds from a bit of fiddling. Subtle rumblings of an uncomfortable silence to the dramatic chaos of the end times – that sort of thing.
The Dronar Free Edition plucks five presets from each of the four modules – Hybrid, Guitarscapes, Live Strings and Dark Synthesis. It includes almost all of the features of the full version. It gives you an opportunity to taste the foreboding, the slide into madness and the heavenly sonic excursions for yourself.
The 20 presets use up a whopping 3.7GB of library. You can play with the main controls over seeding and formulating the evolution of the sound. The LFO, the effects and the arpeggiator pages are all there to mess with. It requires the full version of Kontakt 5.6.8 to run although you can also check it out in the free Kontakt Player for 15 minutes at a time (for no suitably explored reason).
This is one of my favourite atmospheric sound libraries and this is a great way to see whether Dronar is something that has a place in your sound library. I love the way the GUI moves and flows and you can have it running as a musical backdrop to your daily activities – just to add some drama to your life.
Dronar Free Edition is available from Time and Space for no monies. Go and get it here.
