OneOdio Studio Max 1 headphones are the cheapest wireless DJ cans yet – but is the latency low enough for club use?

OneOdio Studio Max 1 Wireless DJ Headphones

Here comes a new challenger. After exciting wireless DJ headphone announcements from AlphaTheta (HDF-F10) and AIAIAI (TMA-2) earlier this year, Hong Kong company OneOdio has thrown its hat into the ring with its own set of wireless cans: the OneOdio Studio Max 1. The price is certainly tempting but is the latency low enough?

Low Latency, High Resolution

The Studio Max 1 wireless DJ headphones feature Dual Hi-Res Audio Certification, LDAC high-definition audio decoding technology and 50mm large composite diaphragm drivers, and – although I couldn’t find any frequency response information in the promotional materials or on the product site – the company promises “deep bass and crystal-clear highs.”

In terms of latency, the OneOdio Studio Max 1 headphones boast Advanced Wireless Ultra-Low Latency 2.0 technology with a connection speed of 20ms. As with other wireless headphones, this is achieved with a transmitter (included), which plugs into the device and gives you a range of 10 meters to roam around.

You can also use it in wired or BlueTooth 5.3 modes.

Long Battery Life

The headphones have impressive battery life specs, offering up to 120 hours of use per charge. The Transmitter M1 reportedly lasts up to 10 to 15 days on a single charge at 4 hours of daily use, and also provides 2.5 hours of use from five minutes of charging.

Price and Availability

The Studio Max 1 headphones look to be a tempting alternative to the more expensive offerings from AlphaTheta and AIAIAI. The latency is about twice as slow as AlphaTheta (9ms) and AIAIAI (10ms), although 20ms is still considered fast for wireless headphones.

Pre-orders are open now for the OneOdio Studio Max 1 wireless DJ headphones on the company’s site. They will go into wide distribution in February of next year. They cost $169.99 / £137 and include the transmitter as part of the package.
