Fender Rei R246 Stratocaster Revealed for J-Pop Star
The Fender Rei R246 Stratocaster is coming in early 2025
Fender Japan has announced a collaboration with renowned J-Pop guitarist Rei, creating the “R246” Stratocaster. This signature model blends classic Stratocaster aesthetics with innovative features that meet Rei’s unique playing style.
Rei R246 Stratocaster
Rei is a lifelong admirer of the Stratocaster and actively participated in the design process. The R246 incorporates a slim neck, a smaller, lightweight body, and contoured heel cuts for enhanced comfort and playability.
24 Frets
The R246 boasts a 24-fret fretboard, extending the playing range beyond traditional Stratocaster limits. Including 24 frets, a rarity in Stratocaster models, reflects Rei’s desire for an instrument that seamlessly navigates various musical styles.
Vintage Touches
A vintage 7.25″ radius provides a comfortable playing surface, and the Fender Lead II was used for the neck profile, while vintage Noiseless single-coil pickups deliver authentic Stratocaster tones.
This Strat goes beyond most standard models and has very unique specifications. You can hear Rei playing live in the video above to understand her style, which has many classic guitar influences and brings those into J-Pop.
Smaller Body
The lightweight basswood’s scaled-down Strat body offers a distinctive tonal character, and the instrument features Graph Tech saddles for improved tuning stability and vintage-style locking tuners for secure stringing.

The Rei R246 Stratocaster is available for pre-order exclusively at the Fender Tokyo store. Online sales will commence on 9 February on the Fender Japan website.
